Betsy Lin – Former Chief of Staff, Senator Mazie K. Hirono

Betsy Lin is originally from the West Coast, born and raised in Washington state where the campaign bug brought her to other places: Colorado, California, New Mexico, and Hawaii.

Lin started out in field, and with voter files, and then as a community and political organizer for SEIU in CA. In 2007, she moved to the Washington, DC for a stint as Deputy Political Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during the 2008 cycle, and then as Senior Policy Advisor to Senator Byron Dorgan from 2009-2010.

After Senator Dorgan’s retirement, she became Chief of Staff to Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, running her campaign in-state during a tough primary and general election; building her Senate operation between DC and Hawaii; and serving as her top advisor for close to 7 years.

When she’s not in DC or on the road, you can find her enjoying the ocean on her surfboard and traveling to tropical locations in search of the perfect wave.
